O.J. and Chanda Brigance Speak at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Celebration of Disabled Americans

Former Baltimore Ravens Player O.J. Brigance and his Wife Chanda Speak to Soldiers and Civilians at Event to Honor the Contributions of Disabled Americans
Baltimore, M.D. – O.J. and Chanda Brigance, co-founders of the Brigance Brigade Foundation - an organization that supports ALS patients and their families – were the featured guest speakers this morning at an event at Aberdeen Proving Grounds honoring the contributions that disabled or differently abled Americans make to our country. After the Brigances spoke, they were honored with mementos of thanks and achievement.
The program aimed to celebrate Americans with disabilities who have not allowed those health challenges to stop them from helping others. O.J. and Chanda spoke about their personal journey from learning about O.J.’s diagnosis with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) to creating the Brigance Brigade Foundation. The Brigances shared with the audience the challenges they have faced and continue to face throughout their lives, and how they now assist others battling ALS.

“O.J. and Chanda Brigance embody a mental, physical, and emotional strength that is not seen in everyday life,” said Staff Sergeant Desiree Martin, active duty army Soldier and the Equal Opportunity Leader for The US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense at Aberdeen Proving Ground. “Their determination and positivity in the face of the challenges they have encountered is inspiring to see. We are so glad they could join us this morning to honor all those who contribute to our country and help others while suffering from a disability or illness themselves.”
The Brigances addressed an audience of soldiers as well as civilians that perform research at the facility. After the Brigances spoke, they were presented with tokens of thanks from Aberdeen Proving Grounds soldiers. The first was an Army Challenge Coin and plaque, followed by a Certificate of Appreciation for dedication and outstanding contributions presented to O.J. and Chanda Brigance as well as the Brigance Brigade Foundation’s Executive Director, Steve Peregoy.
