Olive Garden Opens Next Week

The restaurant will employ nearly 200 people, a company statement said.

The Owings Mills Olive Garden will create jobs for almost 200 people when it opens next week, a company statement said.

The restaurant, which replaces the former Tony Roma’s at 6 Restaurant Park Drive near the Owings Mills Mall, will employ 175 people. Applications are currently being accepted, and signs on the restaurant's front door indicate employee training is underway.

“We are proud to open the new Owings Mills Olive Garden, which marries environmentally sustainable features with our Tuscan Farmhouse design,” said Dan Kiernan, the Italian restaurant chain’s executive vice president of operations. “We look forward to welcoming the community into our new restaurant to enjoy our hospitality and our fresh, delicious Italian food.”

Olive Garden , starting at 4 p.m. By Jan. 28, the restaurant is scheduled to begin opening for lunch at 11 a.m.

At 7,441 square feet, the Olive Garden can seat 246 customers, a company statement said. The interior and exterior of the building are supposed to model a traditional Tuscany, Italy farmhouse.

The restaurant, built using recyclable materials and featuring enlarged windows to allow for more natural light, will seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, a company statement said.

The Olive Garden joins , , and in the restaurant park on the corner of Red Run Boulevard and Owings Mills Boulevard.

The Italian themed restaurant chain is owned by Darden Concepts, Inc., the same company that owns Red Lobster.

There are 12 other Olive Garden restaurants in Maryland, including in Westminster and Perry Hall.
