Reisterstown Rescue: One Saved From Floodwaters, Officials Say

A water rescue was performed on Reisterstown Road during Monday's flash flood, Baltimore County public safety officials reported.

REISTERSTOWN, MD - One person was rescued from a vehicle during the storms Monday afternoon in Reisterstown, according to Baltimore County public safety officials. Additionally, power was knocked out for hundreds in the western part of the county.

At 3:45 p.m., rescue crews were dispatched to the 11700 block of Reisterstown Road, where authorities said a vehicle was stuck in the water and one person was rescued.

As thunderstorms rolled through Carroll and Baltimore counties, weather officials received reports of flash flooding in the area. The National Weather Service said that 3 inches of rain had fallen by 4:15 p.m.

A flash flood warning until 6:45 p.m. was in effect for Reisterstown and Owings Mills, where weather officials said an additional 1 to 2 inches of precipitation were possible on top of the 3 inches that had already fallen.

According to BGE, there were 423 customers experiencing outages in Baltimore County after 1 a.m. on Tuesday; of those, more than 400 were in the Owings Mills-Reisterstown area.

In at least one case, the power outage was attributed to a downed tree.

Among those affected by the outages were people at the Reisterstown library, which temporarily closed as a result. It had reopened by 5:30 p.m.
