Owings Mills Business 1 of 9 In MD Magazine's Top 100 List
Health Resources Inc. is the 66th-largest African-American owned business in the nation, according to Black Enterprise Magazine.

An Owings Mills company is listed in a business magazine's Top 100 Largest Black Businesses, a Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development statement said.
Health Resources Inc., a pharmaceutical products company in Owings Mills, was ranked No. 66 in the nation by Black Enterprise Magazine.
Companies are ranked based on gross revenue and assets, business acumen and potential for longterm growth, the statement said. Health Resources, which has 66 employees, earned $121 million in revenue in 2010, the statement said.
The Owings Mills firm was one of nine companies in the state to make the magazine's annual list. Maryland companies accounted for revenue of $1.5 billion and more than 2,000 employees, the statement said.
“One of the greatest opportunities that Maryland has is its vibrant small and minority business community, the backbone of our economy and one of the key reasons our state is coming out of the economic downturn stronger and better positioned for growth,” said Christian S. Johansson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.
Just under 20 percent of all Maryland businesses are owned by African-Americans, the third-highest percentage among the 50 states and District of Columbia. Better than 20 percent of businesses in Washington, D.C., and Georgia are black-owned.
The national average is just 7.1 percent, the statement said.
