Owings Mills Man Killed In Fight With Trooper Girlfriend: Police

Police said the Owings Mills man had a fight in which his girlfriend, a Delaware state trooper, was severely battered; he was fatally shot.

PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE — An Owings Mills man died over the weekend after police said his girlfriend, who is an off-duty Delaware State trooper, shot him during a physical altercation.

Maurice Ifill, 43, of Owings Mills, had been fighting with his girlfriend inside the home in the 3200 block of Champions Drive in Delaware when she got her service weapon, officials reported.

Police responded to a 911 call from the residence for shots fired at 11:12 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, and authorities said the trooper was severely battered and Ifill had been shot in the torso.

Both were taken to Christiana Medical Center, where Ifill was pronounced deceased, according to police.

Officials said that the trooper, an eight-year veteran of Delaware State Police, was in the hospital in stable condition.

Ifill, of the 8200 block of Township Drive in Owings Mills, had been on probation until January for a second-degree assault conviction in 2015, according to court records.

According to police, Ifill's body was being taken for an autopsy, and the investigation was ongoing.
