Owings Mills Man Wins $20,000: Maryland Lottery

The Maryland Lottery reports a grandfather from Owings Mills will take a trip to see his new grandson with winnings.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A salesman who lives in Owings Mills won $20,000 recently playing the lottery. He snagged a second-tier prize in the $20,000,000 Cash Payout! game, officials reported.

Richard Hamburger, 67, plans to spend his windfall on a visit to see his new grandson in St. Louis, he told lottery personnel.

"While I’m there, I will probably take the family to a nice dinner," Hamburger said. "I’m looking forward to having a great time with my family. As a cancer survivor, I try not to lose focus of what’s important in life."

He won the prize playing the $10 scratch-off game at Sam’s Wine & Spirits at 11130 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills.

“My wife and kids didn’t believe me because I told them I won so close to April Fools’ Day,” Hamburger told the Maryland Lottery. “They thought I was playing a trick on them.”
