A public meeting to discuss a reduced list of potential water tower sites has been tentatively scheduled for Oct. 27 at Glyndon Elementary School, a Public Works spokesman said.
But school officials still must confirm that the school can be used for the meeting that evening, David Fidler said.
A spokesman for Baltimore County Public Schools did not immediately respond to questions about the approval process.
βIβm hoping itβs any day now,β Fidler said.
Space in the school has been requested from 6-9 p.m. for an βopen forum,β Fidler said, in which public works engineers would set up tables withΒ information explaining the need for a water tower and the rationale behind where that tower ought to be placed.
A reduced list of potential sites will be presented, Fidler said, but all of the sites originally under consideration will be discussed. He confirmed a hotly contested site at the corner of Bond Avenue and Timber Grove Road was on the shortΒ list.
Possible locations for the water tower since the spring. County Director of Public Works Ed Adams to go over the results of that review in October.
But Fidler cautioned that Public Worksβ role is to make recommendations, not decide where the water tower will be built.Β
βPeople need to know that the role of Public Works is a technical role,β Fidler said. βItβs nuts and bolts of how a water system functions.Β
βThe questions from the community are...political.β
People in Owings Mills and Reisterstown must speak with their elected officials about the ultimate location, Fidler said.
βThe community will have its input,β he said.
