Reisterstown Motorcycle Club Donates $5K to Hannah More

A Reisterstown motorcycle rode into Hannah More School’s gymnasium on bikes to present the school with a generous gift just in time for the holiday.

MCV (Motorcycle Club Five) presented the school with a $5,000 check for Mimeo Boards—interactive white boards—on Friday, Dec. 21. While the club originally intended to raise enough money for five boards and the necessary equipment to use them, the donation will cover six boards with money to spare.

“It was very cool to ride our bikes right into the filled school gymnasium, where students who had gathered for their holiday assembly were completely surprised by our noisy arrival and thrilled we presented the school with an oversized check for $5,000,” the club’s Facebook page said.

In April, the club launched MCVcares for Kids to benefit Hannah More School. The campaign falls under its charitable arm, MCVcares, which was started in June 2011 when members of the club rode in Ride Across America. That winter the club raised more than $5,000 to send care packages to troops in Afghanistan. Members even revved their engines at a counter-protest for the Westboro Baptist Church in Glen Burnie in March. The Kansas church, known for its extreme position against homosexuality, was protesting outside of Glen Burnie High School.

Hannah More School, one of 14 Sheppard Pratt special education schools, serves students in grades 6 through 12 with emotional disturbances, autism, learning disabilities and other health impairments and disabilities.
