Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company Responds to Allegations

The organization reported it suspended two members accused of sexual misconduct, following the lead of Baltimore County Fire Department.

With two of its members suspended from their jobs with the Baltimore County Fire Department amid sexual misconduct allegations, the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company reportedly said the duo was suspended from its organization as well during the investigation.

Police reported Thursday that the Baltimore County Fire Department suspended two career personnel suspected of sexual misconduct after executing a search warrant.

The individuals have not been named, as the investigation is ongoing and charges have not been filed. Police said the men in question are a probationary emergency medical technician and a firefighter/emergency medical technician. They serve in career and volunteer roles.

The Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company issued the following statement on Thursday, according to WJZ. As of Sunday, the statement has been removed from the fire company’s website.

“The officers and members of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company were informed of an investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department. The Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company is fully cooperating with the police department. All of the accused individuals have been suspended from the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company pending the outcome of the investigation. Because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information can be released at this time.”

Undisclosed sources told WBAL that the misconduct involved two teenage girls at the firehouse.

The Baltimore County Police Department started investigating in January, after a Baltimore County fire commander heard about alleged sexual misconduct involving the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company, The Baltimore Sun reported.

“We put a very high premium on conduct here in the Baltimore County Fire Department,” Baltimore County Police and Fire Department spokeswoman Elise Armacost said in an interview with WBAL. “We owe it to our taxpayers to uphold a higher standard. We know that people look to public safety personnel as role models. They trust us with their safety and with their lives, and we don’t tolerate misconduct here.”
