Report: Reisterstown Resident Pleads Guilty in Extortion Scheme

Reisterstown resident Michael Cross, a Baltimore City police officer, pleaded guilty earlier this month in an extortion scheme that involved city police receiving kickbacks for steering motorists to a Rosedale towing company.

A Reisterstown man is one of four Baltimore City police officers who pleaded guilty in an extortion scheme in which a Rosedale auto shop paid off Baltimore City police officers to steer business to them, according to a Baltimore Sun report.

Michael Lee Cross, 28, pleaded guilty to receiving kickbacks from Majestic Auto Repair on Friday, July 1. He was charged with conspiracy in a criminal complaint in February, and indicted by a grand jury in March, according to The Sun.

The owners of Majestic Auto repair pleaded guilty to charges of extortion and conspiracy on Monday. Officers told investigators that more than 50 Baltimore police officers got involved in the scheme, which involved paying officers $150 to $300 per vehicle towed to Majestic, The Sun said.
