Ex-boyfriend caused neighborhood lockdown during police investigation, police said.

Baltimore County police said that a man was taken into custody and is facing charges in connection with a barricade in Pikesville Friday morning.

The report came several hours after officials asked residents near the 3900 block of Princely Way to stay inside their homes, putting the neighborhood on alert.

Officers responded to a home on Princely Way for an alarm call at 5:15 a.m. and when they got there, a woman ran out and said there was a man with a gun, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department.

Police could see the man just inside the door, the statement said.

After 9 a.m., authorities reported they had called in special resources to help keep the community safe as they looked into a potentially armed person believed to be alone in a home on Princely Way.

By 9:30 a.m., police said he peacefully surrendered and was being taken to a hospital for an evaluation. The man faces charges in connection with the incident, according to the report.

Police said the man was the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lived in the home and had never lived there himself.

Several streets around the home were blocked off during the investigation.
