The Classic Catering People Take on Gov. Martin O’Malley’s Buy Local Challenge for Maryland
The Classic Catering People of Owings Mills was chosen to participate in Gov. Martin O’Malley’s 6th edition of his Buy Local Cookout, which was held at the Government House in Annapolis on July 25 as part of Maryland’s Buy Local Challenge Week. Chef Bryan Davis’s Honey Brined Chicken was one of 14 original recipes selected for the cookout. Twenty-eight chefs and local producers from Maryland entered the competition, showcasing the diversity of local products available throughout the state. Partnering with Classic Catering to execute the recipe were Albright Farms and Bees By The Bay in Baltimore County and Chesapeake Greenhouse, LLC in Queen Anne’s County. Buying locally is key to ensuring a smart, green and growing future for Maryland restaurants, chefs and families. It preserves the farmland, protects the environment, bolsters local economics and provides great-tasting fresh food. The entire cookbook featuring this year’s Buy Local recipe winners can be found here.
