What’s in a Name? Hungry Crowds at Memphis on Main Street in Reisterstown

The former Micho's is now serving up home-made barbecue.

Reisterstown’s Memphis on Main Street restaurant and bar—the former Micho’s—is quadrupling its business with down home barbecue, like ribs and pit beef, its manager says.

“We were happy with the venue before, but we wanted something that would have wider appeal,” said manager Joe Jirsa.

The new menu includes ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, pit beef and a variety of other barbecue dishes. Most dishes are made from scratch in-house.

New partner Joe Rafferty brings the barbecue flavor to Reisterstown, drawing from years of experience working in restaurants on the Eastern Shore. Memphis on Main Street brought in a “top-of-the-line” southern fried smoker and will be smoking everything in-house, Jirsa said.

Business has nearly quadrupled since the restaurant changed its name, he said.

“It’s our new favorite restaurant,” said Reisterstown resident Sue Kessler, who is also the director of the Police Community Relations Council for Baltimore County Police, Franklin Precinct No. 3. “We go out all the time and eat.”

The restaurant kept some former favorites like crab dip, crab cakes and lamb shank on the menu. Jesse Issa will also remain the majority owner.

The restaurant opened for lunch for the first time Monday. Hours are 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-2 a.m. on Sundays.

Joe Jirsa said there may be some changes to the restaurant’s décor and he hopes to have more entertainment at its upstairs venue, including live music and possible comedy acts.

Memphis on Main Street is located at 31 Main Street.
