Patch: What does it mean to you to be here in the Reistesrtown community at ?

Ventrice: I didn’t know how close knit Reisterstown even was as a community, because I live in Finksburg and I hadn’t spent much time here. As soon I started working here—it’s awesome, you get to learn everybody that comes in here. We have so many regular customers and everyone knows everyone.

This place is special because this is more like a home for some people—a place where you can relax. A lot of people come here all the time. You’re not getting your nasty, burnt Starbucks coffee. You’re coming here to get a good cup of quality coffee in a community where people know each other. It’s relaxed. It’s a nice place.

I really like coffee. I’ve been in food service, but this is unique because it’s more laid-back, relaxed. I love coffee. I’ve worked at coffee shops before, and this is definitely the best.

What do you like most about the atmosphere here?

It’s relaxed. I like the lighting, the décor. It’s just quiet and cool.

In terms of work, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

Mostly, just to be friendly. Be open and give the customer what they like. That’s the best I can think of.

What’s the toughest part of being here? Any challenges?

When it gets busy, of course, you’re running around like crazy. But, I don’t thiknk anything’s too tough here. Everyone I work with is really nice, really helpful. No one here will be like, ‘oh you go do that.’ We all work as a team.

What’s your favorite thing about coming in to work?

I love everything. I love the people, I love the coffee. I love making coffee and drinks, I love making food. I love coming to work every day.

What’s your favorite thing to eat off the menu?

I like the Sacred Heart with turkey instead of prosciutto. It’s mozzarella, pesto mayonnaise, tomato, spinach and it usually comes with prosciutto, but I put turkey on it instead.

After a long days work, what’s the first thing you do when you get home?

Take my shoes off, change my clothes and relax. I smell like coffee a lot. I’ve been pulling coffee grinds out of my hair recently. So, usually a shower too.
