People ask me all the time why do I insist SLEEP is critical for weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle.
Sleep affects your whole body. When you are sleep deprived you become irritable, cognitive impairment, memory loss or lapses, impairment of moral judgment, severe yawning, hallucinations, causes symptoms similar to ADHD, impairs your immune systems, puts you at a much higher risk for type 2 diabetes, increases your heart rate variability , causes heart disease, decreases reaction time and accuracy, causes tremors and body aches, and puts you at risk for growth suspension , obesity and decreasing of your core body temperature.
Studies have proved that being sleep deprived while driving makes you more impaired them have a 6 pack of beer.

Is your room quite? Is it dark? Have you had a soothing shower before trying to go to bed? Have you over eaten? Is your tummy empty? Have you had enough water to drink? Have you left your worries and troubles at the office?
All of these things add up to a good healthy sleep. A quiet dark cool room, a tummy that is not totally empty but not stuffed is best. I recommend a spoon of Cashew, Almond or peanut butter, or some crackers about 30 minutes before bedtime. A dish of ice cream is the worst thing you can have before bedtime, it raises your blood sugar levels and causes mucus so you’ll be coughing or congested. A nice warm shower to not only clean your body but to help relax you is best, and drinking about 16 oz of water 30 minutes before bed is helpful too. I like to write down in a notebook all the stuff that is on my mind. I tell myself I am leaving it all there in black and white for the morning.
