Woman Charged with Attempted Murder in Owings Mills Domestic Dispute

Police said the woman started house fire after throwing gasoline on boyfriend who lived there.

A woman is charged with attempted murder after allegedly pouring gasoline on her boyfriend and setting fire to his Owings Mills home, according to police.

Lisa Lashell Finley, 29, of the District of Columbia, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, where she turned herself in Monday afternoon to the Franklin precinct, police reported.

Authorities say Finley came to her boyfriend’s home in the 10800 block of Sherwood Hill Road Sunday, threw gasoline on him, held a lighter and stated she was going to kill him.

The boyfriend left and when he returned, there was a fire in the home, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Officials were called to the home just before 5 p.m. for a domestic incident and while on the way there, they were told the house was on fire, police reported. Sprinklers inside the residence put out the fire, according to the report.

The blaze, which investigators determined was intentionally set, caused $75,000 in damage, WBAL reported.

Finley, of the 700 block of Delafield Street Northeast, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree arson, according to court records.

She has a preliminary hearing in Baltimore County District Court on Aug. 14.

Finley is an educational aide at Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C., where school officials told ABC 7 she will be placed on leave in the fall due to the incident.
