Baltimore City Teacher Charged with Rape: Police

When teen sought homework help from Parkville man, police said he gave her alcohol, then had sex with her multiple times.

A Baltimore City teacher is in jail after police say he served alcohol to a teen and had sex with her multiple times earlier this week.

Taki Kentae Lewis, 39, of the 9500 block of Orbitan Court in Parkville, is charged with second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor and related charges, according to officials.

Police say a woman sent her 15-year-old daughter over to Lewis’s home on Monday, Nov. 9, to get help with her homework.

Lewis is a teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools and a friend of the family, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department. He does not teach at the victim’s school, the statement said.

Inside his home, Lewis and the 15-year-old drank alcohol that he provided, then had intercourse in the living room, according to police. By law, someone who is 15 may not consent under any circumstances, according to the report.

Later that night, he had intercourse or sexual contact with the teen several times while she was incapacitated, police reported.

Authorities were notified when the teen was at an area hospital for a sex offense report on Tuesday, Nov. 10, police said.

Officials interviewed the teen and subsequently charged Lewis, who police say is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $400,000 bail.

Police said they have not identified any other victims.
