Just after 2:30 p.m., on September 11, 2021, police responded to Route 702 and Mace Avenue, 21221 for a motorcycle crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on Route 702 towards Mace Avenue when he lost control and struck a guardrail.
The motorcyclist, 66-year-old, William Schmittinger of Katherine Avenue, 21221, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
