Then you're in luck! The Sweet Adelines Global Open House is happening right now.

All through January 2012, women's choruses all over the world are having special rehearsals to welcome women who would like to sing.

Singing with the Sweet Adelines is a wonderful experience for women of any age.  It's like a combination of glee club and drama club.

My story…

I didn't grow up thinking I'd sing barbershop music. I had always sung classical in high school and college.

About 5 years ago, I decided I needed change from my usual chorus. I wanted something a little more fun.

I searched around the web and found the Sweet Adelines International's website.  Surprise! There were several choruses near me.

After visiting my first rehearsal and hearing the harmony I was amazed! The energy and style that was a part of the chorus was infectious. I couldn't wait to go back the next week. It's 5 years later, and I still spend every Monday evening with my chorus.

5 Reasons to Join a Sweet Adelines Chorus... 

1. Make Friends: You'll meet people in your chorus and, over time, get to know the other Sweet Adelines in your region and even throughout the world.

2. Travel: Choruses regularly compete in regional Sweet Adelines competitions, with the winners going on to compete in international competition. In this region, choruses compete in Ocean City, MD, in the spring.

3. Become a Better Performer: Sweet Adelines International is dedicated to the improvement of singing and performance.  This is done by instruction during rehearsal, coaching, as well as regional and international events/workshops.

4. It's for Everyone: You don't have to be a professional singer to join Sweet Adelines. You don't even have to read music since most of our learning is done using mp3s or CDs.
