The Baltimore Humane Society has planned DogFest, 2013 a day full of fun, games and a dog parade, to be held at the Humane Society, 1601 Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown. Proceeds will benefit the animals at this no-kill shelter which depends on private donations to continue its work.
The day will be filled with games, contests and presentations, as well as the Paws on Parade Walkathon. Some of the contests include: Best Kisser (11:30 a.m.), Owner/Pet Look Alike (12:30 p.m.) and Best Trick (1:30 p.m.) Entrance fee of $10 per person.
This day, ultimately, is all about helping out shelter dogs. At 4 p.m. DogFest attendees can get a gander of Humane Society dogs wearing their finest and putting on a show.

You and your dog can share other experiences for a small fee. You can take home a piece of art that involves a print from your dog’s paw. Or your dog can swim in an above-ground pool for $3 per session.
There will be facepainting, an agility course and other activities for children of the two-legged variety as well.
A highlight of the day is the inaugural Paws on Parade Walkathon. It involves your choice of either a 1= or 1.6 mile trail walk along the Baltimore Humane Society’s grounds.
The walk runs from 10 a.m.-noon. Walkers must raise $35 in pledge or donate a minimum $35 to walk in the parade with their dogs. For that fee, you’ll get a DogFest t-shirt and free admission to DogFest. Top fundraisers can win additional prizes. Register online or sign up at the Registration table. Begin collecting pledges beforehand, using this pledge form.
This year, the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Paws on Parade Walkathon will be led by local Special Olympics Athletes.
Please note that retractable leashes are not allowed.
