Harford Man Charged in Pappas Restaurant Holdup: Police
The owner of Pappas Restaurant was pistol-whipped, robbed in parking lot, the Baltimore County Police Department reports.

An Edgewood man is charged in the armed robbery and assault of an 83-year-old restaurant owner, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Darrell Lamar Burns, 25, of the 1300 block of Apple Ridge Court in Edgewood, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, police reported Sunday.
Burns is suspected of pistol-whipping the owner of Pappas Restaurant in Parkville before noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, according to the report.

The 83-year-old restaurateur was reaching into the passenger side of his vehicle for a bag when he was hit on the head with a handgun in the parking lot of Pappas Restaurant in the 1700 block of Taylor Avenue in Parkville, the report said.
The restaurant owner fell to the ground initially, then was able to get up and escape into the restaurant, police reported. Police said he was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was treated for injuries.

The suspect took a bag of money from the victim’s car and drove off in another vehicle, according to police, who said he left his handgun in the parking lot.
Based on eyewitness information, police say a county officer found the suspect vehicle on Northern Parkway and followed it until Burns hit a parked car near Greenmount at Venable avenues in Baltimore City.
The Baltimore County Police Department’s helicopter as well as officers from the county and city collaborated in tracking the suspect and making the arrest in the 3300 block of Greenmount Avenue, police said.
Burns was charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault, possessing a handgun as a convicted felon, using a firearm in a crime of violence and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
Police said Sunday Burns was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
