Woman Killed In Overlea Homicide Was Targeted: Police

One person was killed in Overlea Thursday night as she was getting into her car, Baltimore County police reported.

OVERLEA, MD — A woman was shot and killed Thursday night in Overlea as she was getting into her car, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Police said that the woman was targeted, and the case was not a random act of violence.

Tracey Elizabeth Carrington, 25, of the 1100 block of Glemsford Road in Essex, was shot while getting into her car on Overlea Avenue, according to police.

Officials said Carrington and her friend were leaving the S&S Lounge in the 6800 block of Belair Road around 8:40 p.m. when someone walked up to her and began shooting at her, hitting her multiple times.

The suspect left in a dark-colored vehicle in an unknown direction, police reported.

Carrington was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said, and her friend was unharmed.

"Police are investigating this as a targeted crime because no robbery or other crime was committed during the shooting and the victim’s friend was unharmed," police said in a statement.
