2 Crashes On I-695 Closed Beltway At Perring Parkway

Two crashes near Perring Parkway on I-695 temporarily shut down the beltway.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Two crashes on either side of Interstate 695 shut down the Baltimore beltway Thursday night temporarily in both directions. The collisions happened on I-695 in the area of Perring Parkway/MD 41.

Traffic cameras in the area showed bumper-to-bumper traffic at a standstill on I-695, and drivers were advised to expect delays and take alternate routes. Backups began after 8 p.m. and had cleared by 10 p.m.

The first crash, which involved two vehicles, happened on the outer loop of I-695 at Perring Parkway at 8:19 p.m., according to state transportation officials.

The second crash, which involved three vehicles, happened on the inner loop of I-695 at Perring Parkway at 8:31 p.m., transportation officials indicated.

As of 8:50 p.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration reported all lanes were closed on I-695 in both directions.

By 10 p.m., all lanes had reopened and traffic was flowing smoothly in the area.
