Parkville Man Shoots, Injures Intruder: Police

One man is in the hospital after a resident opened fire Friday morning during a break-in, Baltimore County police say.

PARKVILLE, MD – A Parkville man shot and injured an intruder Friday morning, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Before 2:30 a.m., the resident heard someone kick in the door to his home in the 2300 block of Harford Hills Road and say: "I'm in your house. I'm coming to get you," according to the report from police.

The resident armed himself with a handgun and closed himself inside a room, where police said the suspect then kicked in the door.

After shooting several times in fear for his life, the resident fled, according to police.

Police were called at 2:26 a.m. for a report of shots fired in the area, and the resident told them he had shot an intruder, officials said.

The suspected burglar was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and although he is facing charges, they have not been filed yet, police said Friday afternoon.

The Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office will review the actions of the resident when the police department concludes its investigation, according to officials.
