Parkville Woman Charged In Fake Towson Town Center Report: Police

TOWSON, MD — Police charged a Parkville woman with making a false statement to an officer after she allegedly filed a bogus report. The false reported involved an armed carjacking at Towson Town Center and resulted in helicopter and K-9 officers converging in the area. Towson University police also issued a safety alert cautioning students to be vigilant.

Pamela Davis, 46, of the unit block of Ashlar Court in Parkville, was charged on a summons with two counts of making a false statement to an officer, according to court records. The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

According to authorities, Davis called police last Tuesday and said she was about to get in her car and leave the mall when two men demanded her keys and she gave them her purse instead. Later, her story changed, police said, and she told officers that the suspects pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

Surveillance footage reportedly disproved both stories. Video showed the woman driving into the parking lot at Towson Town Center around 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 14 but not actually getting out of her vehicle, police said.

Upon leaving the mall, the woman pulled into a lot across the street and called police, telling them that she had been robbed by two people wearing ski masks.

A helicopter, K-9 officers and additional patrols were summoned to canvass the area for suspects, according to police, who said that Towson University's police force alerted students to the incident and cautioned them to be vigilant.

Officials said it was not clear why the woman made the false report.
