PHOTOS: Overlea High School Graduates

Overlea High School's 49th graduating class crossed the stage at Towson University's Towson Center Arena on Wednesday night, officially beginning the "rest of the lives" after high school.

Principal Elizabeth "Penny" Parker invited each of the 226 graduating seniors to "hug, shake or whatever" as they were conferred their degrees.

Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Joe Hairston, state Sen. Kathy Klausmeier and Del. Joe Boetler attended the commencement. Speakers included class president Tyrese Jackson, valedictorian William Howard V and Parker.

Overlea's graduating boys wore blue caps and gowns, while the girls wore white. Everyone clapped and sang along to "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield and a stunning rendition of "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers, as performed by the Overlea High School chorale.
