Delegate Bromwell Announces Overlea Turf Field Bill, Baseball Field Rennovations

I am pleased to announce that Senator Kathy Klausmeier, Delegate Christian Miele, Delegate Joe Cluster, and I are working with the Overlea High Sports Boosters and Parkville High Boosters by sponsoring legislation to bring a turf field to Overlea High School and Parkville High School. These fields are long overdue, and we hope to return home from Annapolis with the $500,000 to help build each field.
In addition, I am very proud to announce renovations that have already taken place at Fullerton and Elmwood Elementary Schools. When Baltimore County replaced the fields in the Overlea-Fullerton and Linover communities, the dirt that was used was full of large stones and rocks that made it impossible for children to play safely. I noticed just how bad these fields were while helping set up Fullerton Field for the annual July 4th Fireworks Celebration, a tradition I have carried on since I was a kid.
My next day back at work, I called for officials from the County Executive's office to meet me at Fullerton Elementary. Upon seeing the state of the dirt, it didn't take long to realize the fields were not suited for play.

Thanks to the Baltimore County Executive, swift action was taken and new dirt was brought to the fields. My hope is that these improvements, and the improvements to Elmwood's fields will help to bring a baseball program back to The Overlea-Fullerton, Linover Community in 2018. The Overlea Recreation Council's Little League Baseball program used to thrive in our community, and I am committed to getting it back up and running.
It is always a pleasure to help improve our community. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy these fields, whether it is through the Overlea Recreation Council or at the Annual July 4th Celebration!
