3 Shoplifters Arrested After Dick's Sporting Goods Theft: Police

Thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise stolen near Perry Hall was recovered in Bel Air, where police said the suspects were arrested.

Police said Dick's Sporting Goods in Nottingham Square was hit by shoplifters on Saturday afternoon. About $2,000 worth of merchandise was recovered, officials reported.

A witness called authorities and reported three people who stole from Dick's Sporting Goods in the 5200 block of Campbell Boulevard had traveled to Harford County; police said the witness followed the trio to the 500 block of West Macphail Road, near the Weis and Dick's Sporting Goods in Bel Air.

The Bel Air Police Department received the call at 2:59 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, with information about the theft suspects and vehicle.

When officers arrived, the suspects tried to run, and two were taken into custody in the parking lot, police reported.

"One suspect attempted to hide in the bathroom of Patient First," the Bel Air Police Department said in a statement. "That suspect was also taken into custody."

Officers from Baltimore County took custody of the detainees.

Nobody was injured, according to police, who said $2,000 worth of merchandise was found.
