Arrest Made In 2024 Baltimore Co. Murder

The Baltimore County Police Department announced the arrest of 27-year-old Quevin Pixola-Lara in connection to a 2024 New Year's Day murder.

PERRY HALL, MD — Quevin Pixola-Lara, a 27-year-old Baltimore County man, was recently arrested in connection with a 2024 New Year's Day murder.

The Baltimore County Police Department said Friday that the arrest was tied to the murder of 33-year-old Jose Caceres-Santos, who was found in the area of Bel Air Road in Kingsville with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said a motorist had alerted authorities to the scene after finding Caceres-Santos lying off the shoulder of the roadway on Jan. 1, 2024. Caceres-Santos was pronounced dead at the scene.

While an arrest warrant was initially issued for Pixola-Lara in April 2024, officials were not able to take him into custody as he had fled the U.S., according to the Baltimore Sun.

Citing Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger, the outlet reported Pixola-Lara had been extradited Thursday from Guatemala.

It's unclear if Pixola-Lara and Caceres-Santos knew each other, or what prompted the fatal shooting.

A release issued by Baltimore County Police notes Pixola-Lara is facing first-degree murder, among other charges. He is held with no bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Pixola-Lara's detention was carried out with coordination between the Baltimore County Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation Baltimore Field Office, the Transnational Anti-Gang Task Force (TAG) — Guatemala, and the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
