From the '80s through the Aughties, White Marsh Mall has become a major shopping destination in eastern Baltimore County. In honor of its 30th anniversary, a three-day celebration is planned for Aug. 12-14.
Activities will focus on bridging the gap between 1981 and 2011, said Jessica Benson, mall associate marketing manager.
Weather permitting, an outdoor movie at 8 p.m. on Friday will show the 1981 hit film, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and a fashion show at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday will feature styles from both eras.
"I think the fashion show is going to be huge," she said. "From a 10-month-old to adults, we have all ages and genders participating."
Friday's pep rally at 5 p.m. will also feature a performance by the Baltimore City Pipe Band, with at least one band member who also performed at the mall's grand opening on Aug. 12, 1981, Benson said.

Friday, Aug. 12 5 p.m. Join us as we kick off the weekend's festivities with a fun pep rally! Local groups from the community will be on hand for special performances. We'll also have fun giveaways, enter-to-win prizes and retailer offers. 8 p.m. Do you remember the big movie from 1981? It was Raiders of the Lost Ark and we're playing it on Friday night! Bring your lawn chairs and join us in the former Boscov's parking lot. Children 17 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Weather permitting!
Saturday, Aug. 13 10 a.m. Join us for a very exciting birthday party with an extra special Family Fun Day performance from Uncle Pete. There will be plenty of fun, giveaways, and of course, a birthday party wouldn't be complete without cupcakes! 11 a.m. Come on out for a Meet & Greet with the Aberdeen Iron Birds mascot! Plus, register to win a family pack of five tickets to an upcoming game. Noon Stick around for the kids dance party happening from noon through 2:00 PM. We'll have a DJ, games and giveaways for the kids and fun surprises for the adults. 2:30 p.m. Are you a big fan of '80s fashion? Show us your best and you could win a $30 mall gift card. Come dressed in your best outfit representing '80s fashion and you could win! The winner will also have the opportunity to walk the runway in our live fashion show at 3:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. '80s and Today Fashion Show - Come see how '80s trends have affected today's latest and greatest! 4:30 p.m. We'll finish the day's festivities with a super-fun Chick-fil-A nugget eating contest. Do you think you have what it takes to eat the most nuggets in 60 seconds? We're challenging you! Three contestants will be chosen that day to participate in the challenge. The winner will receive a $30 mall gift card! Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
Sunday, Aug. 14 Noon-2 p.m. We've got something special that we can't announce just yet.
