Officer Critical After Overlea Crash, Police Say
A Baltimore Police officer was involved in a crash Tuesday on Belair Road.

A 15-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department is in critical condition Tuesday night after a crash in Overlea Tuesday afternoon, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
The officer was riding a motorcycle in the 7100 block of Belair Road at approximately 1:15 p.m. when the collision occurred, according to police.
A Jaguar headed south on Belair Road turned left onto Madeline Avenue, into the path of the motorcycle, which was going north on Belair Road, police reported.

The Jaguar driver was not injured, according to the report.
The police officer was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in critical condition, police reported.

Previous Report (4 p.m.): Belair Road has reopened; however, Madeline Avenue is closed as Baltimore Police personnel await a tow for its motorcycle, officials said.
Initial Report: One person was taken to shock trauma Tuesday afternoon from a crash on Belair Road, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Police said the crash in the 7100 block of Belair Road was reported at 1:15 p.m.
Belair Road will be shut down for “an extended period of time,” police said after 2 p.m.
The road is closed between Taylor Avenue and Northern Parkway as the police department’s crash team investigates what officials described as a “serious” collision.
According to WBAL, the crash involved a police officer.
The officer had been on a motorcycle, leading a funeral procession, at the time of the crash, The Baltimore Sun reported.
The motorcycle was headed north when a Jaguar headed south on Belair Road attempted to make a left turn at Madeline Avenue and hit the officer, according to ABC 2 News, which reported the Jaguar driver was uninjured.
Officials advised drivers to avoid the area.
