KINGSVILLE, MD — The widower of the Baltimore County police officer killed in Perry Hall hosted an event Sunday in her honor. Police said that Officer Amy Caprio, 29, was investigating reports of a suspicious Jeep and break-ins when one of the suspects drove at her.
Tim Caprio, who lost his wife that day, said biking was one of the activities he had as an escape.
This weekend he announced a memorial ride in honor of Officer Amy Caprio. He said that he wanted to host the ride as a way of thanking his wife for her service.

Police described Officer Caprio as someone who felt her calling was to serve others, who loved being a police officer and on a personal level, who "loved her family, her husband and her dog, Doodle...the outdoors, mountain biking on the new bike she recently bought and kayaking with her husband."

Added police: "She was a dog lover, making sure to have a leash and dog treats on hand when she went out on patrol — just in case. She and her husband were scheduled to begin a week of vacation this weekend to celebrate their third wedding anniversary and both of their upcoming birthdays."
She would have turned 30 on May 27. She died shortly after responding to the call in Perry Hall, on May 21.
The memorial ride took place on Sunday, June 3, at Jerusalem Mill through Gunpowder Falls State Park.

Participants in the bike ride were encouraged to wear blue or black to support law enforcement.
The ride was 12 miles, including a 5-mile road loop around Jerusalem Mill and a 7-mile course through trails.

It traveled mainly through trails in Gunpowder Falls State Park. One part on a country road near Kingsville was suited for less experienced riders and those who do not mountain bike. There were parts that were more difficult and could be walked for those who were not avid mountain bikers.
The ride was set to kick off at 9 a.m. with "wheels rolling hopefully by 9:30 a.m.," organizers said, on Sunday, June 3. The memorial ride is a rain-or-shine event. Check the forecast.
It started at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 3, at Jerusalem Mill, 2813 Jerusalem Road, Kingsville, MD 21087.
Due to the amount of interest in the event, people were asked to ride there if local and to carpool if not.
