Is it Still Illegal to Park on a Yellow Curb?

No parking signs and yellow curbs mean no parking

I sat in the car on Friday while my son got a haircut—I thought I'd die from the heat! While I sat there, about a half an hour, there must have been 40 different cars that came and parked in the fire lane. We were up by and people were using the ATM, going into , the liquor store, you name it.

Do the police still write tickets?

After a few minutes I noticed most of these people came with the plan to park there, not ever looking for a parking spot. The yellow curb and "no parking" signs had no effect on them. There were plenty of parking spaces—I guess they all felt entitled to a special spot?

I watched one young lady, parked in the wrong direction in the fire lane, blow her horn at a guy that pulled out of the parking area and was in her way. It's a great corner right there, with the bank drive-thru, traffic coming from the back, traffic coming from the front and people parked all over the place, some legally and some in places that should be illegal. Good times.

I also noticed an age pattern. Of the 40 or so cars, probably a conservative estimate, I'd say the average age of the law breakers was 16-30. On a 100-degree day, I wanted to say to these youngins, follow the example of the 70-year-old man who parked in a spot and was able to walk over, and please don't tell me you were in a hurry!
