Building Fire Draws 100-Plus Firefighters To Rosedale Blaze: Officials

Fire on US 40 caused lane closures in the area, Baltimore County public safety officials say.

ROSEDALE, MD — A two-alarm building fire shut down part of US 40/Pulaski Highway in Rosedale Wednesday afternoon for several hours.

The fire in the 8400 block of Pulaski Highway was first dispatched at 11:54 a.m., according to Baltimore County public safety officials.

US 40 was closed between Chesaco Avenue and Interstate 695 as crews battled the two-alarm blaze.

Approximately 150 personnel responded to the scene, officials reported.

Westbound US 40 had reopened while eastbound lanes remained closed in the area of Batavia Road, the State Highway Administration reported after 4:20 p.m.

Drivers were still asked to avoid the area unless necessary because crews were still working in the area.

Before 3 p.m., authorities cautioned that US 40 could be shut down through the evening rush hour.

Drivers were advised to take MD 7/Philadelphia Road, I-895, I-695, I-95 or US 1/Belair Road as alternate routes.
