Councilman David Marks Releases August Newsletter
The newsletter highlights events, issues and proposed legislation throughout District 5.
Each month, County Councilman David Marks releases a newsletter to constituents via e-mail.
The August newsletter included the following message from Marks:
Rezoning Process Starts on September 1
Every four years, the Baltimore County Council is required to review the county’s zoning maps. Zoning determines what can be built on any property in Baltimore County, as well as the density allowed for future development.
The filing period for rezoning changes starts on September 1. Once the filing period is over, the Office of Planning reviews all the proposed changes. The Planning Board holds public hearings throughout Baltimore County, then forwards its recommendations to the County Council.
I have participated in the Comprehensive Zoning Map Process several times as a community leader. It is a very time consuming, detail-oriented process, but very important as we consider what may be built in our communities over the next few years. As a County Councilman, I will try to balance both the rights of private property owners and the needs and concerns of our neighborhoods.
I urge you to actively follow this process. Bookmark the following link on your computer and check back for updates:
