Councilman Marks: Budget Funds Three New Schools and Park Upgrades in Northeast
Most notably, the budget advances a new middle school and two elementary schools to reduce overcrowding.

The proposed Fiscal Year 2018 budget addresses numerous priorities in the Fifth District. I am particularly pleased with the inclusion of funding to advance a new middle school, my top priority in the northeast, as well as two additional elementary schools.
There are numerous other improvements that will benefit our communities. These include $105,000 for improvements at the Fullerton fire station; $210,000 for improvements at the White Marsh police station; $800,000 to build an artificial turf field at Perry Hall High School; and $500,000 to improve Kingsville Park.
The budget funds numerous school upgrades, such as ball diamond upgrades at Gunpowder, Joppa View, and Seven Oaks Elementary Schools, as well as multipurpose court resurfacing at Carney, Cromwell Valley, and Pleasant Plains Elementary Schools.

I look forward to working with the County Council as we review the County Executive’s proposal.
