Highway Vehicle Involved In I-95 Crash: White Marsh VFC

There were miles of backups on Interstate 95 Wednesday due to the multi-vehicle crash, officials said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A crash on Interstate 95 snarled traffic for hours midday north of White Marsh. The multi-vehicle crash occurred on I-95 north past the exit for MD 43/White Marsh Boulevard.

The collision was reported at approximately 11 a.m on Wednesday, and lanes reopened around 2 p.m., transportation officials said.

The crash involved six vehicles, according to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company, among them a truck to protect construction workers along I-95.

"This vehicle along with others was struck earlier today," the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement with the above photo. "Fortunately, no major injuries were reported."

During the crash response, I-95 north was temporarily shut down. As lanes gradually reopened, drivers were advised to take alternate routes.

At one point around 1:45 p.m., officials said that delays stretched up to 4 miles.

The Maryland Transportation Authority reported all lanes had reopened after 2 p.m.

Drivers are reminded that there is a "move over law" in Maryland that requires moving to an adjacent lane if possible or slowing down significantly when approaching/passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck on the shoulder of the road.
