Dock Bar Closes With 'Heavy Heart' In Baltimore County
A waterfront restaurant permanently closed this weekend in Baltimore County. The "gem" of a dock bar shuttered with a "heavy heart."

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The Crazy Tuna Bar & Grill permanently closed its waterfront restaurant Saturday in Essex.
Located on Hopkins Creek just off the Middle River, the dock bar was known for its live music. Some of Maryland's most popular cover bands rocked the stage for patrons dancing in the sand. The picnic tables and outdoor bar further contributed to the tropical atmosphere.
"There is never just one reason when these decisions are made but please know that Hopkins Creek, Middleborough, Essex, and all the surrounding community is just full of amazing residents and patrons," The Crazy Tuna said in a Thursday Facebook post that has over 600 comments and 800 shares.

The restaurant still had six years left on its lease at 203 Nanticoke Road, manager Ashley Schap told The Baltimore Sun.
"Essex is truly losing a gem here," Schap told The Sun.

The Crazy Tuna said it made the "very difficult decision to close" with a "heavy heart."
"We first want to thank all the current and previous staff that has made The Crazy Tuna such a special place for many years," The Crazy Tuna said. "The relationships that have been formed at The Crazy Tuna are very special!"
Schap told The Sun she had worked at the bar for eight years and planned to stay until at least the end of the eatery's lease.
"This is my livelihood," Schap told The Sun.
The Crazy Tuna said its workers "would be an amazing asset to any company."
"The staff and community are top notch, and we wish nothing but the best for all," The Crazy Tuna said.
