DUI Patrols in Place for Halloween Weekend: Police

The Baltimore County Police Department will be looking for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers this holiday and others.

While there are plenty of scares going around on Halloween, the Baltimore County Police Department wants to ensure the roads are not one of them.

Officers will be out in force on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, to conduct field sobriety checks on roads where DUI and DWI offenses are common, police said Friday.

Police will also target those going above the speed limit, and drivers who are texting, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department.

The department joins others in the region participating in Operation T.I.D.E. (Targeting Impaired Drivers Everywhere), the statement said.

Police say they plan to continue Operation T.I.D.E. on holidays throughout 2015 and 2016.

The legal blood alcohol limit in Maryland is .07.

“Some motorists believe if they are pulled over and have a BAC .07 they aren’t drunk, only ’buzzed,’” police said in a statement. “They are mistaken.”

Drivers under the influence can be fined and imprisoned; they may receive points on their license; and/or they may lose their license, according to police.
