Groundbreaking Event Held For New Police Precinct

Construction for a new Essex Precinct is underway after a groundbreaking event was held by the Baltimore County Police Department.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Ground was officially broken Thursday for the new police station coming to the Essex area.

The Baltimore County Police Department said the new precinct is part of a $29.9 million investment project to renovate the station that has "faced increasing space constraints, resulting in 20 to 30 of its 161 employees working offsite."

The new precinct is expected to include a 40-seat community room and memorial garden, in addition to new holding cells, conference space and a secured entrance for detainees, among other features.
