Baltimore County Policeman Denied Bail After 2 Rape Charges Filed
A judge reportedly ruled the 25-year-old Baltimore County officer was a danger to the public.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A judge ordered a Baltimore County police officer held without bail after he was charged with two counts of rape and three counts of assault dating back to 2017. He reportedly knew his victims.
Anthony Michael Westerman, 25, of the 600 block of North Woodward Drive in Essex, is charged in rapes from October 2017 and June 2019, according to court records.
Westerman took a 22-year-old woman back to his house after she was so drunk she passed out in her car outside Red Brick Station in White Marsh on Oct. 4, 2017, according to charging documents cited by the Baltimore Sun, which stated he called an Uber for her and her friend to go back to his house, where he raped her. According to the newspaper, he has been an officer since 2013 with the Baltimore County Police Department.

Charging documents said Westerman raped a 20-year-old woman who had been drinking at his home in Essex and passed out in his spare bedroom on June 8. She reportedly considered him like a brother.
That same month, Westerman tried to force his girlfriend's friend to kiss him at a Middle River bar, according to WBAL.
Westerman was arrested Saturday following an investigation that reportedly began in October.
His father, mother and sister appeared at his bail review hearing Monday afternoon in Baltimore County District Court, where WBAL said the judge ordered Westerman, who appeared via TV monitor, held without bail because he was a danger to the public.
"The allegations made in this case are reprehensible and are not representative of the values and ethics of the Baltimore County Police Department," Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt said in a statement over the weekend, after charges were announced and the officer was arrested.
Westerman has been suspended without pay.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Jan. 3, 2020.
