Essex Sports Fan Wins Over $180K In MD Lottery Game

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A dedicated fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens recently won hundreds of thousands of dollars on a $5 lottery ticket.

Maryland Lottery announced in a release that an Essex man, who was not identified, won $182,263 by playing the Home Run Riches Walk-Off game.

The man was described as a "ride or die" fan of the Orioles and Ravens. "I probably spend more time at the stadiums than I do at home," he told lottery officials when picking up his winnings Thursday.

The Essex sports fan said he intends to use the funds for home upgrades and to pay off some credit card bills.

The winning ticket was picked up in Parkton, at the High's store on 19200 Middletown Road.
