Police ID Driver Killed In I-95 Crash Near White Marsh

A Harford County woman was killed in a crash on I-95 Tuesday morning near MD 43 after hitting two vehicles and a wall, police said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — One person died in a crash involving two other vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, on Interstate 95 near White Marsh Tuesday morning, according to Maryland State Police. Lane closures were in effect for nearly five hours, including during the morning rush hour, as authorities investigated the collision.

The crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, along I-95 north past the exit for MD 43/White Marsh Boulevard.

Lisa Ann Schaefer, 33, of Forest Hill, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Maryland State Police.

Schaefer was driving a 2006 Infiniti G35 north on I-95 when for reasons that are not known, her car went off the road, sideswiping a 2013 Lincoln that was on the shoulder and proceeding to crash into a concrete barrier, police said.

Then the Infiniti hit a parked tractor-trailer and became disabled underneath it, officials reported.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division are working on the investigation, and officials said that they have not determined a cause.

Multiple lanes were closed as investigators responded to the collision. At one point during the investigation, around 6:30 a.m., authorities reported there were backups of 1.5 miles.

By 8:25 a.m., police said all lanes had reopened.

INITIAL REPORT — Delays were approximately 1.5 miles long on Interstate 95 north Tuesday morning near White Marsh after a fatal crash, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. The crash occurred on I-95 north past the exit for MD 43/White Marsh Boulevard, officials said, and Maryland State Police was conducting a crash investigation.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which was reported around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30.

Before 6:30 a.m., two right lanes and the right shoulder were closed, leading to 1.5-mile backups.
