There was an underground fire burning near the struck electrical line, smoke was present in several businesses and multiple stores were experiencing power surges and electrical issues, the fire company said.

Some stores had closed because of power outages, while others remained open, officials later reported.

Before 4 p.m., the Baltimore County Fire Department said that firefighters would be clearing the scene but BGE would remain in the area for an extended period to make the necessary repairs.
