Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Most of Maryland (EXPIRED)

An inch of rain could push some areas into flash flood conditions, the National Weather Service reports.

A flash flood watch is in effect for much of central Maryland until midnight.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon and evening across the region, which has been saturated by heavy rainfall this past week.

โ€œAs little as one inch of rain in one hour could produce flash flooding,โ€ the weather service reports.

A flash flood watch means that conditions could develop that may lead to flash flooding, or a rapid rise in water level.
