Happy Birthday to Joppa View Elementary School
The school on Honeygo Boulevard opened in 1990.

Joppa View Elementary School hosted a celebration Thursday in honor of its 25th birthday.
A special assembly and open house marked the occasion, according to Councilman David Marks, who presented an honorary resolution to the school on behalf of the Baltimore County Council.
“It is an exceptional public school that has terrific support from parents and the community,” said Marks, whose two children attended Joppa View. “I want to thank Principal Scott Palmer and faculty, past and present, for making this such a special place.”

According to Marks, Joppa View Elementary School opened in 1990 and its construction occurred at the same time as the extension of Honeygo Boulevard from Silver Spring to Ebenezer Roads. It was also when the Tremper Farms neighborhood came online, he said.
In addition to the councilman, those who delivered remarks during the April 23 celebration included former Baltimore County Public School Superintendents Robert Dubel and Anthony Marchione; Debbie Anthony, the school’s first assistant principal; Senator Kathy Klausmeier; and Delegates John Cluster and Christian Miele.

One of the largest elementary schools in Perry Hall—it has an enrollment of 731 students, according to Baltimore County Public Schools—Joppa View is slated for air conditioning renovations in 2016, Marks said.
