Here Comes Peter Cottontail: Last-Minute Tips for a Successful Easter

Easter is just days away. Are you ready?

Can you believe how quickly this year is passing us by? I find myself dumbfounded at how fast Easter has snuck up on me! That being said, have you done your Easter preparations? No? Yeah, me neither.  

But don’t worry, it’s not too late to have a bunch of fun activities for your kids, and get ready for the egg hunts this weekend.

Here are a few tips to help get your family ready:

  1. Prepare those Easter baskets! Of course, you’ll need to find time for a kid-free trip to Target or Walmart to purchase the candy and goodies. Plan to also stop at , where you can pick up little things to fill the plastic eggs you’ll use during the egg hunt.
  2. This is a beautiful time of year to do a photo shoot and capture the memories. Your kids might get really into this by modeling outfits and striking a pose. Grab your camera and use your own backyard as the backdrop. Or, head to White Marsh Mall for a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny (there's a coupon on the Web site).
  3. Create an indoor spring flower arrangement. It's easy to bring flowers inside. I picked up a $10 arrangement at Walmart—they had several varieties. I chose purple hyacinth bulbs in a glass canister. They had already bloomed. My son and I decorated it by adding some large stone gravel to the bottom. It will look beautiful on our dining room table for Easter dinner.
  4. Dye and decorate eggs. This is such a fun activity that both kids and grownups enjoy. Ironically, it’s the only time of year that I can get my boys to eat eggs. PAAS and other companies have so many creative kits—this is an easy way to do a craft and have a blast.
  5. Most importantly, don’t forget the true meaning of Easter. While it’s easy to get caught up in the commercialism of the holiday, it’s also important to think about the reason we celebrate. Consider participating in some of the .
