Human flight is now possible near The Avenue at White Marsh.

WHITE MARSH, MD — Ever wanted to skydive but are scared to jump out of a plane? There's a new business in White Marsh that provides the sensation of free-falling without leaving the building.

After months of construction, iFLY opened this week, offering the public the opportunity to fly inside.

"Our mission is to deliver the dream of flight to everybody, whether you’re age 3 or 103,” iFLY President Matt Ryan said in a statement. "Thanks to iFLY, flying is finally available to everyone.”

Participants must complete a training led by an iFLY safety instructor. Then they can go into the flight chamber, which is a vertical wind tunnel where they are pushed up on a column of air. The total experience is approximately 105 minutes, and customers can book their flights online.

There are 22 other iFLY locations in North America. The White Marsh location marks the first in Maryland. Students, professional skydivers, military members, corporate teams and friends have been drawn to iFLY since it began in 1998 for the experience of human flight.
