The following statement was released by the AFP:
Remind them that our opponents want to increase the gas tax by 15 cents per gallon. That would make the total tax on a gallon of gas in Maryland 56.9 cents per gallon. If you buy 20 gallons of gas per week, that's an additional $600 in taxes every year. When you hear our opponents claim that they need to raise taxes to pay for new roads and safe bridges tell them that we paid for these things with our gas taxes, tolls, and car registration already. We refuse to pay for them twice because dishonest politicians want to raid the transportation trust fund instead of facing tough budget choices.
