New Northeast Elementary School a Priority: Bevins, Marks
Councilman David Marks provided the following information about possible new school on horizon for Perry Hall area.

A 700-seat elementary school in northeastern Baltimore County is a priority and could be done by 2017, according to County Council Chair Cathy Bevins and Councilman David Marks.
The Board of Education received the recommendation at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
If approved and funded, a new elementary school would be built in time for the 2017-18 academic year.

The construction schedule will be accelerated because three properties under consideration are already owned by Baltimore County or Baltimore County Public Schools.

Bevins: ‘Will Have Dramatic Impact on Class Size’
”This elementary school will alleviate overcrowding throughout northeastern Baltimore County,” Bevins said. “It should have a dramatic impact on class size on many schools, and also provide a first-class learning environment for the students it serves.”
Marks: ‘One of My Top Priorities Has Been to Reduce School Overcrowding’
“One of my top priorities has been to reduce school overcrowding in the Perry Hall area,” Marks said.
“Councilwoman Bevins and I have worked together to accelerate the construction of this school to produce the most immediate effects for our families,” he continued. “We would like to thank Superintendent Dance and County Executive Kamenetz for their support.”
Perry Hall Improvement Association: ‘Important First Step’
“We thank County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Councilmembers Cathy Bevins and David Marks and BCPS Superintendent Dr. Dallas Dance for their leadership in addressing the school overcrowding in the Perry Hall area,” said Dennis M. Robinson Jr., president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association.
“Construction of an elementary school is an important first step,” Robinson said. “Many of the kids who fill these additional seats in the new elementary school will eventually progress to Perry HallMiddle School and Perry Hall High School. We will continue to work with the County Executive and Councilmembers Bevins and Marks to address that situation now.”
